WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOUR CAR HAS P0402?
If your car has
excessive exhaust gas recirculation flow, that is, P0402 then chances are your
car is giving you a lot of trouble. It refers to a condition in which the EGR
valve passes excessive recirculated exhaust gases into the intake manifold.
Such problems
arise in several cars, such as in the VW Tiguan and Volvo S70. If there are
chances of P0402 in VW Tiguan, it is
better to get consultations from trained and experienced mechanics. The causes
of P0402 can vary from the EGR getting stuck to the loosening of the EGR valve,
while its symptoms can vary from the illumination of the ‘check engine light’
to the rough running of the engine. Here are a few things you can do to cure
your car of P0402:
Replacing EGR
valve
Most of the
P0402 cases arise due to the jamming of the EGR valve. Hence, it is better to
replace this valve.
Replacing broken
catalyst in the exhaust
When there is a
broken catalyst in the exhaust, chances are it would give rise to P0402. Since
the component itself is broken, the best option is to replace it.
Cleaning the EGR
temperature sensor
When the EGR
temperature sensor is faulty, the temperature can show a lot of variation.
Thus, cleaning the carbon from it or simply replacing it is the most idyllic
course of action.
